poster: self portrait by herbert bayer

in 1932, herbert bayer created a series of photomontages in which he took up pictorial ideas from surrealism. the "self-portrait" is the best-known of these works: bayer, on the right edge of the picture, sees his own petrified body in the mirror as a statue - the latter holds a disc from his right arm with her left hand.

a photograph of the photomontage, which has not survived, is in the collection of the bauhaus archive berlin.
