poster: newspaper kiosk by herbert bayer

herbert bayer designed seven publicity buildings in 1924. among these are the designs for a newspaper kiosk and a cigarette kiosk, which are in the bauhaus-archiv berlin.

they are publicity buildings of the future, new ways of advertising are presented: large structures with colourful surfaces and graphic signs, above these the neon advertising signs. the actual kiosk looks quite small in comparison.

in other designs bayer works with film projections, neon writing, sound and even letters in smoke.

this is really a graphical design. these kiosk ideas were not really feasible. as well as the newspaper kiosk the cigarette kiosk is also available in poster format.
