wagenfeld lamp out of glass – design wilhelm wagenfeld

the bauhaus lamp became a design icon. created in 1923/24 in the bauhaus metal workshop, it shows the early bauhaus program of industrial design. individual stereometric bodies - cylinders, discs, tubes and spherical sections - are combined to form a harmonious overall shape. the functional elements are shown and also emphasized: the cable in the shaft as well as the thread below the dome. "best light diffusion", "very stable" and "simplest, pleasing shape" are the arguments with which the bauhaus luminaire was advertised in the "catalogue of samples" in 1925. the lamp offered here is the only re-edition of one of the most famous designs of the weimar bauhaus authorized by wilhelm wagenfeld.
