published in 1925, the book sets out the basic features of the bauhaus stage concept. the bauhaus stage is that of the eimar period; it was significantly influenced by Osokar schlemmer. he confronted them with expressionist theatre after he had taken over the stage department in 1923. n the same year, Llászló Moholy-Nagy was appointed to the bauhaus, who was interested in abstract kinetic and luminarist phenomena. farkas molnár was mainly concerned with the stage architecture.
the epilogue by walter gropius was written in 1961 for the American edition published under the title "the theater of the bauhaus". in it, he recapitulates the tasks and achievements of the stage at the Bauhaus and his own experimental work as an architect.
