mono a cutlery | 4 pieces, short bladed knife – design peter raacke

the cutlery from 1959 is designed in such a way that it can be produced inexpensively and with little material from a standardised stainless steel sheet - the 'monoblock'. the revolutionary, rational production process is particularly noteworthy in the case of knives, as prior to this the handle and cutting edge had been made of two pieces. today, however, the knife in this series consists of two elements: the handle is made of fine stainless steel, the blade is made of hardened steel. hence it is dishwasher safe and with a sharp blade, in line with today's requirements. the flat, straightforward design with its elementary basic shapes is one of the classics of table culture today. peter raacke has had a significant influence on the shaping of industrial design.
