the form is impressive, not only in the naming. once jacobsen's designs became available, a long journey began before the cylinda line was ready for the market in 1967. the design created its own appearance with only the bare essentials. the logical structure of all vessels on cylinder and hemisphere is astonishing. the same basic shapes, used for a wide variety of functions. this was the case with marianne brandt, for example, who built up an entire service series based on the semi-sphere at the bauhaus as early as 1927. stainless steel, highly challenging in production, moulds incorrectly at the slightest inaccuracies of the tools. the producer first had to develop machines and welding techniques in order to be able to implement the designs, which are technically demanding precisely because of the stereometrics.
