on 14 november 2018, the third issue of "bauhaus now", the official magazine of the bauhaus association, was published. this time, the focus is on performance and pedagogy.

what are the major design tasks and problems in the 21st century? what are architects working on today? what do they dream of? what challenges do they face? and does the holistic approach of the bauhaus still offer solutions for the future?

with the focus on performance and pedagogy, our third issue deals with both the ideal and – in the case of the iconic bauhaus building in dessau – the physical core of the bauhaus. its revolutionary redesign of teaching, which also included the bauhaus stage as a place of exploration of space and people, has shaped design and art education all over the world for a hundred years.

the curatorial team of this year's design biennale in istanbul, led by jan boelen, explores the question of how the bauhaus became a school of schools – and what new impulses could emanate from the bauhaus today instead of a blind veneration of the historical achievements.

on 100 pages, numerous well-known figures such as performa founder and bauhaus expert roselee goldberg, choreographer sasha waltz, digital performance artist signe pierce and art educator susan orr explore the questions of which media, forms of representation and content still follow the idea of the bauhaus today, often without being aware of it or even making this claim.

also present: the 100 years of bauhaus gallery with artistic answers by stefano pilati, richard siegal, wolfgang tillmans and the icon of the dionysian theatre, richard schechner. also included will be an intervention by director ersan mondtag as well as a background discussion with the curator of the opening festival of 100 years of bauhaus, bettina wagner-bergelt.
